- Recommendation of the art teacher
Art III Honors an elective course designed for students who are interested in furthering their development in the visual arts and includes the preparation of a portfolio of student artwork. Students will be expected to display an advanced level of drawing skills and techniques as well as a strong foundation in art vocabulary and knowledge. Art projects will be more student-directed with a focus on technical quality and personal style as well as a willingness to work independently. Students will experience more advanced applications of media through the studio areas of drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed media, and sculpture in preparation for Advanced Placement courses in Drawing, 2D Design, and 3D Design. Projects will interweave the four disciplines of art making, art criticism, art history, and aesthetics as well as the National Visual Arts Standards with a focus on problem-solving and decision-making.
