WHY A CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL?
The mission of the school is to further the spiritual growth and development of high school students in the Roman Catholic tradition in an environment where prayer and devotion to God can be freely expressed and students can reach their full human potential. John Paul II High School immerses young adults in a Catholic college prepatory high school community where scholarship is highly valued, faith is lived concretely, and the moral life is honored.
WHERE DO THE STUDENTS WHO ATTEND JPII COME FROM?
JPII is a regional diocesan high school and attracts students from across eastern North Carolina from Morehead City to Farmville.
HOW MANY STUDENTS ATTEND JPII?
There are currently 55 students enrolled at JPII. The projection is to increase each class size to 100 or more students per grade.
WHAT IS THE CURRICULUM?
JPII includes and exceeds North Carolina high school standards. We offer a senior thesis seminar as a capstone course. It prepares students to attain acceptance and achieve success at the college of his/her choice.
WHAT ABOUT RELIGION?
Theology classes are taught each of the four (4) years at JPII. In addition, weekly Eucharistic adoration and a weekly Mass are celebrated together as a school. We seek to live the liturgical calendar.
HOW IS THE SCHOOL FINANCED?
A cost-based tuition fee schedule is used to fund day to day school operations. This is supplemented by an energetic fundraising program.
WHAT IS TUTION AT JPII?
Currently, tuition is set at $7,800 / year with additional registration and academic material fees.
An independent needs analysis program (FACTS Grant and Aid) is used to help determine if a student may qualify for financial assistance. IS THERE A SCHOOL COUNSELOR?
Yes. Academic and college counseling services are offered.
WHAT ELECTIVES ARE OFFERED?
Electives are determined by student demand. Some current electives include Art, Orchestra, Modern Guitar, Latin, Psychology, Sociology and Astronomy. Upcoming electives may include Drama, Computers, Ethics and Choir.
DOES THE SCHOOL HAVE A GYMASIUM?
A new gym has just been completed and is located at the Dickinson Ave. Sport Complex, 3250 A Dickinson Ave., Greenville.
WHAT FACILITIES ARE IN PLACE NOW?
JPII Academics campus facility totaling 24,000 s.f. is located at 2725 14th Street in Greenville.
WHAT SPORTS ARE OFFERED?
Currently JPII fields teams in volleyball, basketball, soccer and golf. All students are encouraged to participate in one or more sports programs.
WHO ARE THE FACULTY?
The principal, Mr. Craig D. Conticchio, is an exceptional educator, leader and devout Catholic He leads a dedicated staff of 15 faculty, all with advanced degrees and all with credentials.
