Sports & Extra Curricular Activities
The high school experience would not be complete without the opportunity for students to participate in various sports and extracurricular activities. It is recognized the high school years are an important transition period in the overall development and maturation of a teenager into a well-rounded and confident adult.
Developing responsibility, independence, communication, and leadership skills are traits that students should have the opportunity to strengthen or acquire in their school environment and through participation in school activities.
For these reasons John Paul II Catholic High School will strive to make a wide range of extracurricular activities and sports programs available to its students. Traditional school clubs and organizations will be initiated based on student interest. For example, we have recently added Pilot Club, Anchor Club and Spanish Honor Society.
Sports and competitive athletic teams will be integral component of the activities available to students at John Paul II High School. Thus far, we have volleyball, cross country, golf, and boys and girls’ soccer, basketball and swimming. As the school increases in student numbers and additional facilities are added other sports will be added including football, baseball, softball, tennis, track, and lacrosse.
John Paul II Catholic High School is part of the North Carolina Independent Student Athletic Association. Catholic schools participating in the NCISAA have a long tradition of competing very successfully in this association. We will strive for the same degree of success from our sport teams.
The coaching staff will include experienced sport coaches, faculty members, parents and community volunteers. Our Athletic Director has a strong athletic background which includes: college athlete, club sports coach and professional athlete. We have a strong Booster Club with parents and alumni which have been and will be essential to the sports program.
