As of September 12, 2023
The objective is to protect the JPII staff and students from acquiring or spreading the COVID-19 virus in the school environment. The goal is to provide “in-person” learning while maintaining the most effective disease protections. All JPII staff and students are encouraged to recognize their personal responsibility in preventing/ controlling this disease. Personal actions can have a significant effect on the school’s operation and the health of other students and faculty and family members.
Vaccines: Vaccines are not mandated nor are boosters.
Masks: Masks are not currently mandated. If masks are used only medical-grade masks are advised. Cloth masks and gators are not effective.
Cleanliness: Frequent hand washing/sanitizing is encouraged.
Faculty and Staff: Discuss with your healthcare provider the risks/benefits of any vaccine or booster.
If a “mask required” situation arises faculty can teach without a mask as long as they practice appropriate distancing guidelines and are without COVID-19 symptoms.
Students: Discuss with your healthcare provider the risks/ benefits of any vaccine or booster.
Any student or staff with a positive COVID-19 test should follow CDC guidelines for treatment and isolation. The recommendation is that infected individuals should quarantine at home for 5 days (Day 0 is when your test is positive). Infected individuals should not return to school until symptom-free for 48 hours and should consider wearing an appropriate mask for 2 days if having any residual upper respiratory symptoms (such as a cough or runny nose).
In general, if feeling ill (having a fever, significant cough etc.) the individual should not attend school or school functions (even if a COVID-19 test has not been performed).
Sports: The school will follow NCISAA COVID-19 guidelines for sports (players and spectators).
Visitors / Guests / Contractors/ Vendors: Must check in at the office. Anyone with symptoms may not be allowed to enter the school premises.
The COVID-19 committee comprising medical and education experts will continue to meet and address the risks of COVID-19 infection in the school and community and determine if any adjustments to these guidelines is necessary.
